All Souls DayEucharist & Blessing of the Garden - Monday, November 2, 10am In the New Testament, the word “saints” is used to describe the entire membership of the Christian community, and in the Collect for All Saints’ Day the word “elect” is used in a similar sense. From very early times, however, the word “saint” came to be applied primarily to persons of heroic sanctity, whose deeds were recalled with gratitude by later generations. Beginning in the tenth century, it became customary to set aside another day—as a sort of extension of All Saints—on which the Church remembered that vast body of the faithful who, though no less members of the company of the redeemed, are unknown in the wider fellowship of the Church. It was also a day for particular remembrance of family members and friends. Though the observance of the day was abolished at the Reformation because of abuses connected with Masses for the dead, a renewed understanding of its meaning has led to a widespread acceptance of this commemoration among Anglicans, and to its inclusion as an optional observance in the calendar of the Episcopal Church. |

We Need Your Help!
Last year, our raffle generated more profit than the admission fees from the cars and the general public guests put together. And it came from volunteers who went out to their local pizza shop; diner; nail salon; service station; restaurant and bar; grocery store; art studio; gym; bagel shop. In increments of $25; $30; $50 - and sometimes more than $100, but not always - these efforts gave us the impetus to be there for those thousands of neighbors who needed us. We're a bit behind in this part of our efforts - WE NEED YOUR HELP to give one more effort to turn in a gift certficate; a gift card; a financial donation. But particularly a retail certificate that we can add to the raffle. Would you stop in at those places that YOU know ? Stop in some of those restaurants on City Island or Main Street/New Rochelle has many retail opportunities; Mt. Vernon is virtually unvisited; so many opportunities! And finally - if you can't solicit donations or don't feel you're able to do so - would you contribute some gift cards personally? Visa/MC, AMEX, Amazon - etc - those make great raffle items. Please speak to Carla Carroll or Carol Ipsen if you have any questions or if your have procurred any gift cards or gifts! |

Mozart Requiem with choir and full orchestraSunday, November 15, 2026 On Sunday, November 15 at 4:00 PM, the Parish Choir of Christ Church joins forces with The Modus Singers and Modus Operandi Orchestra (MOO) for a performance of Mozart’s Requiem. One of the most profound and enduring works in the choral repertoire, the Requiem was left unfinished at Mozart’s death in 1791 and completed by his pupil Franz Xaver Süssmayr. From the haunting opening of the Introit to the dramatic power of the Dies Irae, Mozart’s final work encompasses both the terror of judgment and the consolation of eternal rest. The combined choir and orchestra will be led by conductor Justin Bischof. Experience this extraordinary masterpiece in the beautiful setting of Christ Church. Book of All Souls
The All Souls Book ( in some places called Book of the Dead,) will be available for parishioners to personally write in the names of our deceased relatives and friends for prayer. This book is on a prayerful podium near the candle stand in the Bell tower of the church. It will be there throughout the month of November. We encourage all in the month of November, when we remember All Saints and All Souls, to take a few moments to personally inscribe the names of all those we want to remember in our prayers . May the Souls of the Faithful Departed, through the mercy of God Rest in Peace as we remember them with Faith and Love. Amen |
