Orchestra Concert October 21st 7:00 pm
Dear Christ Church Friends, As you know, on Wednesday, October 21, at 7:00 PM, we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with our Third Annual Orchestra and Organ Concert at Christ Church! We will welcome 48 musicians from MOO | Modus Operandi Orchestra, our outstanding New York City professional orchestra, for a thrilling evening featuring some of America's greatest music. The program includes Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, Barber’s beloved Adagio for Strings and Knoxville: Summer of 1915, featuring soprano Katherine Whyte. Organist Eugene Lavery will put our magnificent Juget-Sinclair organ through its paces in Barber’s spectacular Toccata Festiva, and we will conclude with Howard Hanson’s glorious Symphony No. 2, “Romantic.” It is a rare opportunity to experience a full symphony orchestra in the extraordinary acoustics of our beautiful church! Our heartfelt thanks to our dear friend and parishioner Martin Nash, whose transformational generosity, through a leadership gift of $25,000, has helped make this historic concert possible.
