In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, Christ Church welcomes Modus Operandi Orchestra (MOO), under the direction of Music Director Justin Bischof, for a concert on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:00 PM. The program celebrates the extraordinary richness of American orchestral music, opening with Aaron Copland’s iconic Fanfare for the Common Man. Samuel Barber is represented by the brilliant Toccata Festiva, featuring organist Eugene Lavery, the luminous Adagio for Strings, and Knoxville: Summer of 1915, featuring soprano Katherine Whyte. The concert culminates with Howard Hanson’s sweeping Symphony No. 2, the beloved “Romantic,” one of the great American symphonies of the twentieth century. Join us at Christ Church for this festive musical celebration of America at 250.
