The artist, Kevin Knowles, was born and grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and currently lives and has his studio in Thornwood, NY. He attended the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, where he studied Illustration, Graphic Design, and Fine Art. He worked for many years as a finisher for an upscale Billiard Table manufacturer/restorer, collaborating with interior designers to create custom colors for their clients. During this time, he continued to devote as much time as possible to his painting, with oil painting being his preferred medium. The artist’s painting style has been influenced by such painters as William Turner and Mark Rothko. He paints using thin washes of oils in layers, letting the colors mix on the canvas. This creates the misty feel of the works. The artist’s works can be found on Daily Paint Works and on Instagram, kevinknowles6.
