A Meet the Artist Reception will be held in Hoag Hall Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 11:00-1:00 PM.
Gail Rogers was born and raised in Harrison, NY. She became interested in photography when she was in college at New Paltz State. Gail fell in love with taking pictures. Though she does take pictures of people and scenery, she prefers taking photos of wildlife. She began by taking photos at The Marshlands in Rye and at Edith Read Sanctuary in Rye. Gail spends a good deal of time at the Bronx Zoo and other zoos in the tri-state area. She particularly likes taking pictures of cats and gorillas, but baby animal pictures are always fun to capture and record their progress.
When Gail takes photos of animals she concentrates on the eyes. It is important to her that the eyes are sharp. You can almost tell the animals’ thoughts by looking into their eyes. Gails photos have been displayed at the Marshlands and Edith Reed. She also had a photo published in the WCS calendar. Just this past year CBS News used her photo of an Osprey on its CBS Newscast which was reporting on the Osprey at Playland. In addition, she had a Photo Show at the Harrison Public Library December 2024.
Art is available to be viewed/bought on Sundays from 8 am till noon or by appointment. Twenty percent of the proceeds of the sale of the artwork will be donated to the Parish of Christ the Redeemer.
