NOTE: Please do NOT purchase or drop off Medical Supplies at Christ Church or any of the churches listed. We are creating a datebase and contact list... not storing or collecting supplies. READ THE TEXT BELOW.
Mission Statement:
The newly-organized Christ Church Medical Supply Ministry’s mission is to redistribute surplus medical equipment and healthcare supplies to marginalized parishioners and those in need, at Christ Church and other churches within our area – and charitable organizations that have similar support needs.
This program will be chaired by parishioner Sheila Toth, who can work with our Outreach Committee when necessary. Her initial contacts will be with:
- Trinity/St. Paul’s/New Rochelle.
- St. James Fordham Episcopal Church/Bronx
- Saints John, Paul and Clement/Mt. Vernon
- St. Peter’s Church – Westchester Square/Bronx
- Grace Church – City Island/Bronx
- Hearts and Homes for Refugees – Pelham
Every day in our area, perfectly useable medical and healthcare supplies are discarded. Here in our area, the struggle of shortages is dangerous; this leaves gaps between surplus and scarcity, leaving lives at risk and undermining health equity.
Christ Church/Pelham is starting this program to improve that divide with health and medical supplies that will be donated, from a master supplies spreadsheet. There will be a live document of all items that are currently available and will be updated as donations both are received and given out.
Administrators at the parishes and organization mentioned above will be able to contact Sheila with their clients’ needs; Sheila will then fill requests as available.
What we are asking from you:
Determine what surplus medical and healthcare supplies you have, by emailing your list to Sheila at satoth123@aol.com, or call at 917-417-7522. Please supply your name, email/phone information, and the items that you have, to create the live document.
What’s needed:
(Medical equipment) (Healthcare supplies – must be in new package)
- Canes - Hydrogen Peroxide
- Wheelchairs - Petroleum Jelly
- Crutches - Antibiotic creams
- Walkers - Isopropyl alcohol
- Rollers - Alcohol wipes
- Shower seats - Ace Bandages
- Elevated toilet seats - Rolled gauze bandages
- Bed Rail/Assist Bars - Medical tape
- Knee/Ankle/Wrist/Elbow braces - Band-aid
- Any additional items that you might have that are not listed here, please contact Sheila for confirmation.
Unfortunately, due to space limitations, medical equipment cannot be stored at Christ Church, but will be picked up from you, if necessary, when items are needed. Healthcare supplies can be dropped at Christ Church in boxes located in the Narthex, outside the Parish Administrator’s office, and inside the glass doors.
